I like to tell people that I am the easiest to become friends with, just take me out to your favorite happy hour or after work spot and a new friendship has sprouted. This gastropub located inside the First National Building between Cadillac Square and Campus Martius has effortlessly landed a spot on my favorites list.
Central Kitchen + Bar prides itself as being a vibrant gastropub offering contemporary classic, according to their website. This restaurant’s location, menu choices, and ambiance make it the perfect location for a business meeting, date night, or dinner plans with college or business friends. The menu choices included many familiar American classics with high-quality ingredients and an amazing list of handcrafted cocktails.
I started off my dinner date with the Bistro Salad, a mixed green salad served with vertically shaved carrots, grape tomatoes, red onions, french beans, and crispy buttermilk shallots all tossed in a homemade white balsamic vinaigrette to die for. You’ll quickly learn that a perfectly executed house salad will make my day, any day. Next time, it is my plan to try the salad topped with salmon for a healthy lunch option.
The menu also features a simplistic variety of choices such as tacos, burgers, and entrees such as Steak Frites and Sea Scallops. I chose the Detroit Burger, which is perfectly topped with wild mushrooms, zip sauce, Gruyère cheese, your typical burger fixings, and bistro sauce. Each burger is accompanied with house-made chips and a crunchy pickle. My dinner date and I decided to try the gastropub’s famous Herb Seasoned Fries, which easily became one of our favorite menu options.
Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Central Kitchen +Bar. This makes a great restaurant selection for date night, business meetings, and even brunch. I will definitely visit again and would add it to my restaurant list. I hope you have the opportunity to visit.
